on november 24th. >>> 28-year-old dennis macedo of sunny vale is facing three counts of vehicle manslaughter while intoxicated as well as other charges. macedo slammed into a car saturday night instandly killing three members of one family. family friend remains in critical condition. macedo was speeding away from another crime at the time. >>> this accident happened about 11:40 this morning on san thomas. preliminary reports indicate the car may have veered on to the shoulder and hit the cyclist. investigators say the 20-year- old driver left the scene and went to a pete's coffee store about three miles away where she called her father. the two then returned to the scene. no charges have been filed. >>> police released photos of a man and woman. the female robber approached the victim after they both got off a light rail train and then beat the victim to the ground. this occurred on the evening of february 6. investigators say the male robber then helped steal the purse and both left the scene on their bicycles. anyone with information about the case is asked to contact san jose police. >>

a chromium 6 drinking water standard for the state. one of the scientists on the panel was this man, dennis paustenbach. the "newshour" and the center for public integrity learned the company he ran, chemrisk, had been hired by pacific gas and electric during the lawsuit. at the time, the most compelling scientific study that linked chromium 6 in drinking water to cancer came from china in 1987. it studied villagers in liaoning province who lived near a chromium ore smelter and drank tainted water for years. the lead author-- a dr. zhang jiandong. found they had increased rates of stomach cancer. acting on behalf of its client p.g.&e., chemrisk paid zhang to redo his study. paustenbach offered this explanation before the california senate. >> after he saw the questions that we raised about the analysis, he went back and examined and said, "of course not, it can't be true. my original conclusions don't make sense." >> reporter: the revised study reversed the original conclusion that chromium 6 was the likely cause of the villagers developing cancer. scientists at the california environmental
